This I Believe #1

...that the national anthem of Japan should be changed to the original theme song of Uchuusenkan Yamato (a.k.a. Space Battleship Yamato, a.k.a. Star Blazers).  If I ever sing karaoke, that'll be my song— I already know most of the words, and I've got the manful-yet-wistful crooning down pat.

I am The Tensor, and I approve this post.

It's a good song, no question. Sounds very noble, somehow. Good choice for the national anthem. But for karaoke purposes, I think you'd be better off with another song from that soundtrack: "Makkana Sukaafu". All that tragic sorrow coming through, and you can really bring it home on the "La la la mak(pause)-ka-naaaaa su-KAAAAAA-aa-FUUUUUUUUU!"

Just my opinion, of course.

Of course it's a classic, it's sung by the legendary anime singer Isao Sasaki. My boyfriend loves singing that on the karaoke. But I always plead him to stop because it sounds so bad when he does it, haha. Ever tried singing Cha-La Head Cha-la? That should be a challenge, LOL.
