This I Believe #6
...that there should be published, at the earliest opportunity, a new comic book series about the adventures of a sexy, cybernetically-enhanced conservative jurist with no memory of his past, fighting for survival in a dystopian scrapheap of a city. It should be drawn in the manga style, and its title should be:
(It's at times like this I wish I knew how to use Photoshop.)

Here's a question: why does the url for this post contain the number 5?
Posted by: Russell at Oct 31, 2005 9:43:56 PM
Because it's the sixth post with "This I Believe " at the beginning of the title.
TypePad's system generates the URL for a post by using the first 15 characters of the title, converted to lowercase and with spaces converted to underscores. Therefore the post titled "This I Believe #1" has the URL this_i_believe_.html. When it encounters another post with the same URL - that is, the first 15 characters of the title are the same - it tacks _1 onto the end. If there are already two posts, it adds _2 instead, and so on.
So when "This I Believe #2" was posted, TypePad saw that this weblog already had a post with the URL this_i_believe_.html, and made it this_i_believe__1.html; the same pattern has held since, so that this, the sixth installment, is this_i_believe__5.html.
