Is there going to be a bloggers meeting in Albuquerque this year? I don't know who's going apart from you and me. I'm happy to organise something if there's interest, although my regular anggarrgoon site is down (I think someone turned off the server for the holidays...).
I hadn't given it any thought, but it's a good idea. Who's in?
I don't know Albuquerque at all, so I can't offer any suggestions for location. Last year we went out to a restaurant, and that seemed to work pretty well (although I think we should try to get a round table this year). Anybody know the city at all?
We'll have to pick a time, too. Last year we did it on Friday, which, unfortunately for those of us who are students, conflicted with the student mixer. Thursday is probably out—I suspect many people won't yet be in town. Saturday is the dinner for the SPCL (which I admit I had to Google—the Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics), so that might be inconvenient for some people as well.
So, I put it to you: are you more available Friday or Saturday (or Thursday, even)? Leave a comment. It'll be interesting to see if the growth of the blogosphere is reflected in a bigger crowd—if it looks like there's more than about 20 people interested in attending, I suspect we'll have to call off dinner and just plan to meet informally in one of the hotel bars.

I live in Albuquerque. If you want some tips on restaurants, let me know.

I emailed Mark Liberman and he's going to put something on Language Log soon.
Thursday for dinner is out for me - Endangered language film screening - but I'd be up for meeting in the bar afterwards.
Either Friday or Saturday evening for dinner are fine with me.
Patricia, do you know anywhere good (and not too expensive) close to the convention center?
Close to the convention center? Sorry! Downtown closes down except for the nightclub district to the best of my knowledge. I'm up here in Nob Hill and could give you tips for that. In the daytime, take the Central Avenue Bus and get off close to where you want to be.
This is one thing that always plagues tourists in our town. Now, if the conference were being held at UNM or even at UNM Continuing Ed, I'd have a dozen ideas.
You might want to hit www.alibi.com, our weekly free cultural (i.e. clubs, music, etc) paper for restaurants.
